International student registrations continue at Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU). The International Student Affairs Unit, operating under the OMU Directorate of Student Affairs, welcomes admitted students, completes document verification, and finalizes official enrollment procedures.
In line with the protocol signed between the Council of Higher Education and the Directorate General of Migration Management, residence permit application processes for international students are also initiated simultaneously with registration.
OMU has implemented a pre-registration system for international students who are unable to complete their registration in person, whether residing abroad or within Türkiye. Through this system, students can upload required documents and proof of payment electronically and obtain temporary registration status.
As a result of approved applications, students are issued a Temporary Student Registration Certificate. For those facing visa difficulties, acceptance letters and temporary registration certificates are sent by the university via official email directly to the embassies of the students’ respective countries. Students have until 30 November 2025 to finalize their enrollment and begin their studies.
As stipulated by the protocol between the Council of Higher Education and the Directorate General of Migration Management, OMU also monitors the residence permit processes of its international students.
To prevent students from violating legal stay durations, reminders are issued one month before their permit expiration dates. In this context, SMS and email notifications are sent from official university accounts to ensure that students do not lose their rights such as course registration or requesting student certificates.
Commenting on the international student registration process, OMU’s Head of Student Affairs Department Ahmet Çakır stated:
“As Ondokuz Mayıs University, we prioritize providing a warm welcome and a smooth start to academic life for students from around the world. Our pre-registration system secures their rights, and we stand by them throughout the residence permit procedures. Our aim is to help them continue their education in Türkiye without facing issues related to legal stay durations. OMU will always remain a safe harbor for international students.”
