Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) has earned national acclaim by achieving second place in the Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) Competition at TEKNOFEST 2025, one gold, two silver, and three bronze medals at the 10th Istanbul International Invention Fair (ISIF’25), and securing a patent award in the 4th Turkish Universities Patent Competition—totaling eight major accomplishments.
In the Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) Competition held under the scope of TEKNOFEST 2025, OMU’s Akıncılar-ATA Team achieved second place in Türkiye. Led by Team Captain İbrahim Yılmaz, the team includes members Fatih Akkay, Ömer Matpan, Berkay Civan, Mazın Saeed Osman FAIEZ, Murat Karagöz, Orhan Sami Genç, Cafer Sadık Öztok, and Celal Şahbaz.
The award was presented by Vice President of Türkiye Cevdet Yılmaz and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the T3 Foundation Selçuk Bayraktar.
OMU Faculty of Engineering student from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Betül Beyza Çalışır, earned the right to receive a patent for her innovation titled: “Smart Microphone Stand System That Orients Toward Sound Using Acoustic Direction Finding.”
She received her award from the Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır during the 4th Turkish Universities Patent Competition.
At the 10th Istanbul International Invention Fair (ISIF’25) held at Istanbul Atatürk Airport, OMU won one gold, two silver, and three bronze medals, demonstrating the university's strong academic research and innovation capacity.
OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın commented on the university’s achievements, stating:
“Our placement in TEKNOFEST, the medals won at ISIF’25, and our student’s patent award are indicators of OMU’s innovative and productive identity. I congratulate all our academics and students who contributed to these successes. We will continue to strengthen our identity as a research university.”
