A series of events were organized within the scope of “Midwifery Week” by the Faculty of Health Sciences of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU).

 

First event was held on Thursday, April 21 in the Conference Room of the Faculty of Health Sciences. The event started with opening speeches, and Assoc. Prof. Deniz Sayıner, an academician at Eskişehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Health Sciences’ Department of Midwifery, gave a lecture on “Supporting Delivery”.


The second event held in Atatürk Congress and Culture Center at OMU on Monday, April 25 was organized in the form of a panel. The panel started with a piano recital, and continued with the speeches of the academicians from OMU Faculty of Health Sciences. In the panel entitled “the Heart of Midwifery: Women and Newborns” chaired by Asst. Prof. Birsen Altay, Asst. Prof. Serap Topatan informed the audience on “Process of Midwifery Education”; Instructor Neşe Karakaya on “Security of Newborns”; Instructor Nazlı Baltacı on “Globalization and Woman Health”, and Midwife Hatice Alaftam on “Friendship with Mothers, and Midwifery”. At the end of the panel, a folk dance team organized by the staff of Samsun Maternity and Pediatric Hospital entertained the audience with their dances selected from the Black Sea Region.

 

It was stated that OMU Health Sciences Faculty’s Department of Midwifery would open an exhibition stand on May 5 in front of OMU Student Facilities Centre.
