Robots are competing in Samsun

"13th International MoNE Robot Competition" organized in Samsun due to the 100th anniversary of the War of Independence started with a ceremony attended by Ziya Selçuk, Minister of National Education.

This year, the competition hosts 3.848 robots of 5.999 competitors from 878 institutions in Tunisia, Georgia, Ukraine, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gambia, Iran, Zambia, Cyprus, Pakistan, Yemen, Kazakhstan, Algeria, Romania, Turks and Caicos Islands, and Turkey.

The opening ceremony organized in Yaşar Doğu Indoor Sports Hall was held with the participation of Ziya Selçuk, Minister of National Education, Mahmut Özer, Deputy Minister of National Education, Osman Kaymak, Governor of Samsun, Yusuf Ziya Yılmaz, Member of Parliament for Samsun, Zihni Şahin, Mayor of Samsun Metropolitan Ministry, Prof. Sait Bilgiç, Rector of OMU, Prof. Mahmut Aydın, Rector of Samsun University, Hasan Togar, Mayor of Tekkeköy Province, Vice Rector Prof. Mehmet Kuran, directors, teachers and students.

The opening speech was delivered by Prof. Kemal Varın Numanoğlu, General Director of Vocational and Technical Education. Then Governor Osman Kaymak made a speech and he expressed his satisfaction for hosting the competition.

Lastly, Ziya Selçuk, Minister of National Education, gave a speech and he remarked: "As Atatürk said, science and intelligence are the most realistic ways for success, civilization, and life. With this belief and thought, the International Robot Competition that we have organized in Samsun has a different meaning. As the Ministry of National Education, we are proud of this initiative."

The competition is being broadcasted live

The competition consisting of 12 categories in total are being broadcasted live at the website “http://robot.meb.gov.tr”.

The competition will be finalized on April 12 and the top-ranking teams will receive laptops, certificates of achievement, medallions and a cup from the Ministry of Education. A total of 216 000 Turkish Liras will be distributed in 12 categories by TÜBİTAK.

The award ceremony of the competition will be held on April 12, 2019, at Yaşar Doğu Sports Hall at 16:00.
