Samsun Technopark Shares Its Projects with Students

Samsun Technopark organized a meeting for the students at Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) in order to introduce the activities they will perform during the 2017-2018 academic year. The general structure of Samsun Teknopark, OMU Technology Transfer Office (OMU TTO) and entrepreneurship were discussed at the meeting.

The meeting organized in Samsun Technopark building was held with the participation of Buğra Çolak, General Director of Samsun Technopark, Mustafa Mortaş, OMU TTO Project Coordinator, Prof. Kürşat Demiryürek from the Faculty of Agriculture and students.

“Core of technoparks: technology, innovation and entrepreneurship”

Buğra Çolak explained the basic steps in the process of development since 2009 in his speech under the title "Who are we as Samsun Technopark?". He expressed that all Technoparks in the world were identified with three important words namely technology, innovation and entrepreneurship, and he said: "We are trying to support the business ideas identified with these three words as Samsun Teknopark".

“Creativity is the ability to think outside the borders”

Dr. Mustafa Mortaş, OMU TTO Project Coordinator, explained the duties of OMU TTO by saying: "We evaluate and protect your business ideas, transform your discoveries into commercial values, and help entrepreneurs build a company. Remember that creativity is the ability to think outside the borders".

“Our purpose is to create awareness on entrepreneurship”

Prof. Kürşat Demiryürek shared with the students the projects approved by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) and implemented in 2015. Defining the purpose of the project as creating awareness on entrepreneurship among the students and teaching staff and spreading entrepreneurship culture and helping to put successful business ideas into practice, Demiryürek also talked about the entrepreneurship trainings they offered for academicians.

The meeting ended after the questions of the students were answered.
