OMU is at the Urbanization Council

The opening of the Urban Planning Council, which is coordinated by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and sponsored by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was conducted on 27 January 2017 at the Presidential Complex with the assembly of a plenary session.

The Urbanization Council held under the theme of “New Vision in Urbanization” will continue for 3 months, and Assist. Prof. Saim Can Beritan who is an academic member of the Faculty of Architecture’s Department of Urban and Regional Planning will be representing both Ondokuz Mayıs University and Samsun.

The following topics will be addressed at the Council: “Identity, Planning, and Design in our Cities”, “Urban Transformation”, “Urbanisation, Migration and Adaptation”, “The Role of Local Authorities in the New Vision in Urbanisation”. 40 academicians from 20 universities and a total of 200 members from Turkey will participate in the Urbanization Council.

Academicians, local authorities, bureaucrats, experts, nongovernmental organizations, and representatives of trade bodies will attend the Council. The next council meeting will be held on 20-21 February at Antalya.
