Young Health Care Professionals Ready for Career

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Faculty of Health Sciences gave 225 graduates at the graduation ceremony of the academic year of 2016 – 2017.

Principal Consultant to Rector Prof. Mehmet Ali Cengiz, Faculty of Health Sciences Dean Prof. Nermin Kılıç, other faculty deans, Provincial Public Health Director Dr. Mustafa Kasapoğlu, Samsun Public Hospitals Union Secretary General Prof. Süleyman Sırrı Kılıç, academicians, graduates and families attended the ceremony held at the Yaşar Doğu Faculty Sport Sciences New Hall.

Delivering the opening speech of the ceremony, Faculty of Sport Sciences top ranking Nurbanu Arı, underlined that they are aware of their responsibilities as graduates who will shape the future and continued “I believe we start our career one step ahead having taken education at OMU. As professional health care workers, we promise to conduct beneficial works for our country”. Thanking her family and all academicians who helped them acquire knowledge and skills, wished her graduate friends successful and happy days.

"Graduation is not an end but a start"

In her speech, Faculty of Sport Sciences Dean Prof. Nermin Kılıç pointed out that graduation is not an end but a start to deliver the knowledge gained at university to the people.

Thanking all the senior management, and especially Rector Prof. Sait Bilgiç, for the support they gave for the development of the faculty, Dean Prof. Nermin Kılıç expressed her gratitude to the Provincial Health Directorate and Public Hospitals Union General Secretariat for their support to applied education, and the faculty academic staff and families for raising the students.

"Skilled young health professionals raised for the community"

Pointing out that they raised young health workers voluntary to serve the community who went through a comprehensive and applied education, Dean Nermin Kılıç addressed the graduates “You are the future of this country. Your presence will carry our country to a peaceful and brighter future based on the understanding and idea Atatürk designated. We believe that you will furthermore add value to everything you do and conduct the requirements of your profession in the best way possible while preserving your national identity and values integrating universal values. For you are OMU graduates”.

Remembering our martyrs as well Prof. Nermin Kılıç said “I bow respectfully before our martyrs.”

Expressing to the graduates that OMU will always be their home Prof. Kılıç finished her words saying “From now on live and enliven the honour to be a graduate of OMU”.

"First know yourself, then determine your mission"

Starting his speech conveying the regards of Rector Prof. Sait Bilgiç to the audience, the Principal Consultant to Rector Prof. Mehmet Ali Cengiz congratulated all students who had the privilege to graduate from OMU.

Stating that they designated the 2019 – 2023 vision as the management to advance the university, Principal Consultant Prof. Mehmet Ali Cengiz advised the graduate students to designate a personal mission and vision as they took steps into their new lives. To achieve this, advising to first coming to know themselves and specifying their shortcomings and afterwards designating their visions, Prof. Mehmet Ali Cengiz continued “If you don’t do this, it is difficult for you to act planned and programmed, thus become successful. But if you do so, you will be of benefit to yourself, your family and country.

Principal Consultant to Rector Prof. Mehmet Ali Cengiz reminded the students that they could enroll in the OMU Alumni Coordinatorship to keep in contact with the university. Prof. Cengiz also invited all the graduates to the gaudy to be held in July.

After the speeches, the top ranking students received their graduation certificates besides sapling certificates and gifts. The top ranking student of the faculty Nurbanu Arı received her graduation certificate, sapling certificate and gift from the hands of Principal Consultant to Rector Prof. Mehmet Ali Cengiz, the second ranking Kader Aker from the the Faculty of Health Sciences Dean Prof. Nermin Kılıç and the third ranking İrem Çaylı from Provincial Public Health Director Dr. Mustafa Kasapoğlu.

The ceremony ended with the throwing of caps after all the students received their graduation certificates.
