Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Faculty of Communication gave its first graduates.
OMU Faculty of Communication, admitting its first students in the academic year of 2013-2014, gave 70 graduates, 30 from the Department of Journalism and 44 from the Department of Public Relations and Publicity.
Principal Consultant to Rector Prof. Mehmet Ali Cengiz, ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center) Provincial Coordinator Prof. Nevzat Şahin, Donator Tülay Ulusoy, county protocol, deans, Vocational School Directors, academicians and families of students attended the graduation ceremony.
Delivering a speech at the start of the ceremony, OMU Faculty of Communication Founder Dean Prof. Zekeriyya Uludağ said “I am utterly happy and proud to see you students graduate now. I put much effort in the foundation of this faculty. I full-heartedly congratulate you and your families”.
Delivering the opening speech of the graduation ceremony, OMU Faculty of Communication Dean Prof. Niyazi Usta said “I wish success to the graduating students in their upcoming life. Besides education, our students became successful in numerous competitions during this period. This faculty proved that the location is not that important; what matters is the will and resolution. Facilities not available in many faculties of communication are present at our faculty. As the faculty, we will start a work to film an anthropological document of Samsun. I congratulate our students, families and lecturers”.
Lastly, delivering Rector Prof. Sait Bİlgiç’s kind regards, Principal Consultant to Rector Prof. Mehmet Ali Cengiz stated “First of all, I congratulate you graduates and your families. Our students got the results of their efforts. We wish they continue their new lives as individuals loyal to national and spiritual values of this country. We expect all our graduate students to the graduates meal to be held in July. We also wish that you get in contact with the Graduates Coordinatorship”.
After the speeches, the top ranking student of OMU Faculty of Communication, Merve Doğan from the Department of Public Relations and Publicity, ailed her name on the graduation log. After the protocol’s handing the gifts and success certificates, the students took the graduation oath and threw their caps.
